NDIS Dietician

As part of your NDIS Package - Dietitian refers to all aspects of the food and nutritional care of individuals and groups.  It assists people to meet their individual needs within their own psychological, cultural and economic environments.

Services provided by the Dietitian are:

  • Clinical assessment, particularly nutritional assessment
  • Treatment
  • Therapy
  • Dietary information and advice
  • Assessment and recommendation for provision of aids, such as eating utensils
  • Assessment and recommendation of modifications to the home environment (ie. modifications to have better access to cooking facilities such as modifying or moving a stove)
  • To support appropriate planning of food services or meal preparation activities

People who meet the NDIS access requirements are called participants. Participants receive funded supports and an individual plan.

If you are a person with disability and want to join the NDIS, you need to meet the access requirements. These include: availability of the Scheme where you live; your age; your residency status; your disability and in some cases your early intervention requirements.

If you think you meet these criteria, you can apply to join the NDIS.

You must be under 65 years of age when you apply to join the Scheme.

To meet the residency requirements, you must in Australia and:

  • be an Australian citizen    OR
  • hold a Permanent Visa    OR
  • hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
